My all time favorite album turned 40 this week. The Beatles self titled double album was released on November 22, 1968. It’s superior known as The White Album due to it’s white cover. It was The Beatles only double album and their only self titled album. I also believe it was their ideal album (and considering the competition that is saying a lot.)

Sure not each one of the album’s 30 tracks is up to The Beatles usual incredibly high standards. Songs like “Goodnight” and “Don’t Pass Me By” (sorry Ringo) won’t ever rank among The Beatles best and in fact they do rank among their worst. But even the not so great songs seem to add to the album’s character. And these few weak tracks are definitely exceptions and not the rule.

Some would say that these weak tracks are an indication that the album should have been a single album instead. I strongly disagree. 13 or so tracks probably would have had to have been cut to make it into a single album and there’s no way there are 13 tracks that could be cut from The White Album.

To me it’s the great variety of The White Album that helps to make it so timeless and so endlessly listenable. It’s the one album I seem to never get bored of. It’s amazing how I still hear new things in the songs all of these years later. I first heard The White Album about 12 years ago and I’m still blown away by the nuances and musical layers of these songs. I wouldn’t call the album a “grower” as that term is usually reserved for an album one doesn’t initially enjoy and then grows to like. This is an album I initially loved and then grew to love even more and more over the years.

Songs such as “Martha My Dear” and “Honey Pie” might have seemed like “throwaways” when I first heard it but now they seem essential. These are brilliant songs that show The Beatles at a creative peak. They weren’t merely trying to repeat what they had already done, they were always looking for new song styles to try, new ways to create. If you’re the type that enjoys hearing the same song over and over again (hello Nickelback fans!) then sure this may not work for you but if you’re the type that actually likes to hear imagination at play then it certainly is.

“Revolution #9″ is often brought up as the biggest example of The Beatles “going too far.” Once again I strongly disagree. To me “Revolution #9″ is a vital part of The White Album and I love that it was included. I think, still to this day, it’s the most uncommon track ever to be included on a #1 album. That alone would make it an interesting listen. But it’s more than just uncommon. It’s an extremely effective track for what it is. It’s aim is to be unsettling. To take the listener on a sort of stream of consciousness journey and to that end it works extremely well. While I don’t listen to this track each single time I put on the album (I admit to often stopping the album at “Cry Baby Cry” and thus skipping “Revolution #9″ and “Goodnight.”) when I do listen to it, I enjoy it.

I far prefer that experiments such as that are included rather than hearing an album chock full of average tracks that all sound the same.

The contrasts of The White Album are brilliant. From “Helter Skelter” the album moves to “Long Long Long.” That has to be among the most intense contrasts in rock history. “Helter Skelter” is the heaviest song The Beatles ever recorded and “Long Long Long” is the quietest. These songs are the perfect representation of what The White Album is. Variety, contrast, imagination, and excellence.

Matthew Yoho advocates buying acoustic guitars online. You can find vintage acoustic guitars and acoustic guitar newbie packs online too. The White Album has a lot of great songs you can play on your acoustic guitar such as “Blackbird” and “I Will.”

We all know that this Christmas is going to be less joyous than years before. The economy has caused everyone to rethink the items they purchase. That’s why finding the best gift this Christmas is going to be harder than ever. A great addition to a vehicle might just be a truck rack. They are practical and simple to install. You’ll not only have the biggest gift under the Christmas tree, you’ll also be thanked profusely.

Many small business owners purchase trucks for practical reasons, to haul supplies and help maintain their business. Some people, however, don’t utilize the space in their automobiles. If you’re hauling ladders in the bed of your truck then you should really rethink your optimization of space. Truck racks are perfect for carrying ladders, while at the same time securing them and allowing you to haul more important items.

An avid outdoorsman is generally in possession of varied kinds of equipment. Kayaks, skies, canoes, snowboards, bicycles, and snowshoes can be costly equipment. That’s why it’s important to secure them during transport to the slopes, river, lake, or mountain path. A rack will allow you to keep them from knocking into your other gear, or even ruining the bed of your truck. They also allow for more space as you can customize yours to fit the full length of your car giving you up to twelve feet of storage.

Many might not realize this, but some ATVs can also be stored safely. They are specifically made to withstand heavy weight, and most manufactures will include detailed instructions on transport of ATVs and four-wheel automobiles. For those outdoorsmen who have multiple ATVs, these additions can provide a cost savings because you don’t have to buy a trailer to haul them. Trailers can cause dangerous driving conditions on winter roads. While practical, you must evaluate whether or not they are right for you. Thankfully, there are other options.

Luggage is easily stored as well. Have your relatives in town but don’t have any room in the bed of your truck because of the gear you haul for work? Secure luggage in a safe and reliable spot without inconveniencing your passengers by having them keep it in the cab of your car. It can be especially convenient when traveling long distances on vacation. Save room to put the tent and supplies in the bed of your truck. Racks can even fit on top of your camper.

They have the ability to also be handy for hunters during deer, elk, bear, antelope, and moose season. Rig your car for simple transport of your treasured find. Guns, rope, scopes, bows, and tents can easily be transported on a rack as well. Being organized is extremely important when space is such a commodity.

Racks can also be very appealing to the eye. You might not need to use one everyday, and therefore it’s important to find one that looks visually appealing during nonuse. Finding the perfect fit to your automobile is important in the overall aesthetic look. The last thing you want is an oversized, ugly colored monstrosity attached to your prized truck.

So, while out there shopping this gift giving season think about the practical uses for a truck rack. Give a gift that will be seen daily, remembered for years, and provides a service to that important person in your life. Don’t get stuck scratching your head pondering on what present to give this Christmas Season.

Social networks are websites like Facebook and Bebo which have become incredibly popular with kids, teens and adults all over the world. They give you a great way of catching up with old friends or even just staying in touch with your current group of friends and co-workers. This type of website has moved from being what some saw as a passing “fad” to being multi-billion dollar businesses that companies like AOL are fighting to purchase up. Putting it simply - Social Networks are “in”.

These sites have proven to be so popular that most companies have been forced to block access to them to halt employees spending their entire day swapping messages with their buddies on the web, blogging or answering their friends quizzes.

For years the world of social networking was left alone by the virus code freaks and malware magicians. These sites went largely untouched and were safe to use both inside and outside of your daytime job. That was until now. Both Bebo and Facebook are now the target of a new spate of virus attacks.

Why target social networking sites? That’s an simple one to answer. You don’t have to be a personal whiz to use any of the social networking sites. They’re designed to be deliberately easy-to-use for; so much so that people of any age can use social networking sites. That’s their big attraction.

Unfortunately that means that the same people who don’t believe in personal viruses, trojans, spyware or firewalls will quite happily click on whatever link you put in front of them. Even if the link tells them it’s about some video footage that one of their friends just “found”… This doesn’t happen in real life but of course all you’ve to do is put that blue hyperlink in front of them and they’ll click like mad to get at this hidden video footage or pictures of them. It makes you wonder what kind of guilty consciences some people might have!

So the virus authors now know that social networking users are highly suggestible. Put a tempting link in front of them and they’re very, very likely to click it and spread the virus further.

In the last few weeks I’ve seen people who I thought were pretty smart click on these links and riddle their systems with various types of personal virus. Most of the social networking viruses are a type of worm designed to spread via your address book. The payload varies from one to the next. Usually though it winds up with the operating system having to be fully reinstalled from scratch. Several small companies I know have had serious IT issues because of virus infections caused by viruses spread via social networking sites.

Does this mean that social networking sites should be banned full stop? Punishing everyone for the sins of a few has never been a good idea. What needs to happen is more training on World wide web security issues for employers and employees alike. Explain to the people/staff the cost and employment implications of a widescale virus infection - it can close a business down.

Then again some people never learn so absolutely blocking all forms of social networking sites in the workplace will probably have to become common practice - for the safety and security of everyone involved.

The world of horse racing handicapping is a complex game with many variables. Most handicappers are aware of the importance of time- tested data on speed and past performances. What most handicappers don’t know is that a new kind of data has become available. This data, generated through a process called “equine biomechanics” assigns metrics to various aspects of horse athleticism.

Specialized analysts inspect race tapes, collecting over 50 individual observations per horse for each race. It can take up to eight hours for a trained individual to examine a single race. The data points are then grouped into categories such as coordination, aerobic efficiency, stride quality and endurance. In each category, each horse is assigned a metric based on the data compiled. In addition to creating a quantitative measure for the purpose of comparison, the metrics can also be used to illustrate trends in performance.

While biomechanical measurement is a new development in horse racing, it has become an accepted practice in other sports. Trainers and recruiters for the National Football League, Major League Baseball and for Olympic athletes use biomechanical measurements to dissect athletic performance and ability. The NFL Combine is one of the most recognized applications of biomechanical measurement. At the NFL Combine, players perform a series of drills and tests in which their performance is measured.

In the horse racing industry, the practice of using biomechanics was first introduced by breeders. One company that has successfully used biomechanics in breeding is Monticule Farm. The ideal know, and most successful horse from Monticule Farm has been Huge Brown, winner of the 2008 Kentucky Derby and 2008 Preakness Stakes.

While some handicappers have embraced the new technology, many are hesitant to make adjustments to their existing approaches. It can take years for handicappers to develop a system. That makes it difficult to integrate a new variable. However, since the spoils of handicapping tend to favor the player with an edge, many handicappers are curious to see if equine biomechanics will provide that edge.

Currently, only one company makes data on equine biomechanics available. Case the Race offers a subscription-based service providing equine biomechanical data on horses racing in California. For those who want to test the data before buying, free trial subscriptions are also available.

According to the Case the Race website, the data is designed to complement horseplayers’ existing systems, not to replace them. For example, a player who is adept at identifying winning horses by examining speed, pace and class variables would still employ those methods. However, they would have the additional advantage of having information on athletic capability and would be able to examine a horse’s current trends.

If equine biomechanics lives up to the promise of providing handicappers with an advantage, it will be interesting to see how swiftly horseplayers will adapt. When speed figures were first introduced, those who were the first to leverage the new information were in a position to reap the most benefits. As the use of speed figures became common practice, those who disregarded them paid a price. However, because speed figures were so widely used, the benefit of using them diminished.

The wonderful furry, finned and feathered beings that we choose to share our lives with, or should I say choose to share their lives with us, are so much more than simply ‘pets‘ in our lives. In fact, I believe that they are the bearers of profound spiritual messages and prompters of insightful spiritual growth through their gentle, and sometimes not so gentle nudging. This is because our animal companions have access to, and are guardians of our Divine Blueprint or Soul’s Blueprint.

The Blueprint can be described as the divine ‘plan for the perfect unfolding of the highest potential for an individual soul’. It is a perfect state of consciousness, and can enable the awareness of the ‘ancient memories that lie deep within each of us’ to resurface. Being guardians of our Blueprints is a role of great magnitude for our companion animals and one that’s not taken lightly. They see it as their life’s mission and utmost priority. In fact a happy animal is a sign of their satisfaction with our progress along our own individual paths. Certainly they’ve their own blueprints to develop and realize, but unlike many of us, their close ties to the spirit realm, allow them the strong ability to multitask and therefore help us while continuing their own development.

How could they possibly guide us, you might ask? In my private consultations I’ve seen it all. The animals are masters at their role and divinely creative in their work. To start with let me share with you a tiny about one of my guides, ‘Lucero’ an Andalusian Stallion, likened to an ascended master of the equine realm, now in spirit form. We met, or shall I state our spirits met, somewhere around 1997. At that time I was in private practice as a Spiritual Psychotherapist and Kinesiologist and just ‘happened’ to attend an Animal Communication Workshop. Apparently Lucero had already planned for our ‘meeting’, and what was to transpire as I somehow managed to forget to bring the requested photos of my dog ‘Jiggs’, the love of my life, to the workshop, and instead consequently ended up connecting with him. His energy was literally jumping off the pic at me and I knew then that my life was about to change dramatically. Our connection was immediate and profound. I had never experienced divine universal love and acceptance the way I did in that moment. It was like a barrier had been broken for me and I could now see who I truly was. I knew that the flood of information that was coming through me was from a source much greater than me; in fact, I was channelling!

After driving home from my weekend away, with the feeling that my tires had never even touched the ground, it became very clear to me that the course of my life had changed, and that Lucero was the catalyst. He didn’t just choose me as the one being that he would work with and guide. As I got to know more about him over time I learned that he was the benevolent car of change for many other healers as well. In fact, even from the spirit realm he has called together physical gatherings of healers, one of which I was lucky enough to attend last November in Canada. Lucero, the divine being of love and light is just one of the many souls who are in partnership with us for our soul’s benefit and growth.

Prior to this day, I had always known that my connection to and communion with god, spirit or the higher power was through animals and nature but what I didn’t know was that I would ever be helping others connect in this way professionally. Not until I had met Lucero anyhow. His ideas for me have definitely reshaped my life.

When doing consultations, some of the most common messages and teachings that I hear from the animals for humanity are as follows:

• Recognize that all beings have intelligence and sentient wisdom

• Love yourself and all living beings unconditionally

• Remain grounded and connected to the earths energy

• Live in the present moment

• Surrender to and accept where you’re at

• Follow your heart, follow your bliss

• Practice forgiveness

• Listen to your inner guidance

• Trust yourself

• Approach each day with a sense of wonderment

• Acknowledge yourself as the light beings that you’re

• Meditate as often as possible

• Understand the naturalness of the circle of life – life, death and rebirth

If you tune in and pay attention, I’m sure you’ll witness your animal companions sharing some of these messages with you. If you don’t feel that you’ve mastered telepathy yet, you might just want to notice what they’re showing you on the physical level. For example your indoor animal companion might be seeking out time in the loo, the one area where they have the ability to feel truly grounded via the plumbing, or perhaps they might want to lie down on you right on top of one of your chakras, always the one that needs a little healing and balancing by the way. They know what they’re doing and everything they do has a purpose. In consultations I am often asked by the animals to request that their person spend more time in meditation or for them to slow down a little and go through life a tiny more consciously taking time to smell the roses. When we don’t oblige the animals they will often try even harder to get our attention usually by some type of behaviour that we find unacceptable such as waking us up in the middle of the night. When your companion animal is trying to get your attention, always take note!

Acknowledging the sacred in our relationships with our animal companions is a must for anyone seeking true enlightenment. Recognizing that they come to us to guide us and heal certain aspects of ourselves including broken hearts, disowned or shadow aspects, and even physical ailments can give us a whole new perspective on the relationships that we have with them. Always remember that LOVE is their message.

Quality Homes have wonderful gardens which attract most people. Lawns are a very significant part of our home. Just eradicating weeds and unnecessary shrubs does not serve the purpose; it requires some special skill to turn out a piece of grass into a beautiful landscape. You can also carry out some vital steps like removing undesirable grass, using quality seeds, proper fertilizers, maintenance, water irrigation and lot more. By practicing all these things, you will definitely acquire an attractive lawn that’ll make you feel contented for years.

Great Quality Gardens

The thick grass creates a calming sensation and makes the moments more memorable, especially when you spend some leisure time with your family and friends, sipping coffee and watching your children play on the bed of the thick green grass. To maintain your lawn for years, the foremost thing is to apply a good quality fertilizer and watering regularly at proper intervals of time.

Steps to assure Great Quality

• The first step is to remove all the unwanted grass, weeds and bushes. These kind of undesirable plants act as a parasite for the new developing seeds, so they should be removed immediately.

• Then comes the seeding part. Usually, the best time to seed is the time of fall or autumn. This time is entitled as the ideal time for the seeds to grow and will help acquire a absolutely new look. So you can begin seeding in the month of August and September.

• It is suggested to rake with a double duty rake before starting the process of seeding. It helps to grind and pulverize the soil properly so that the new seeds can breathe properly.

• If you’re reseeding, it is equally important to loose the soil and for this purpose you can make use of peat moss or gypsum in small quantities. Moreover, use a high quality seed to ensure excellence in the growth of grass and other plants as well. Also, after sprinkling of seeds you should spray some water immediately.

• If you want the lawn grass to grow faster, while reseeding you should cover the area, where you sprinkled the new seeds, with a polythene sheet. This will retain moisture inside the sheet and the seeds will require a less amount of water. However when the seeds begin germinating you should remove the plastic sheets, so that these kernels have a proper space to grow up.

• You can also plant some attractive trees, blossoming shrubs, hedge plants, flowers and lot more so that you can make your landscape more attractive.

• Another important idea is to use some mild fertilizers so that the soil remains fertile and free from all kind of pests.

Applying Chemicals

If you want to provide specific nutrient and also want to protect plants from pests, you can bring into play some pesticide management practices that include sound fertilizers. This also helps in maintaining a good groundwater quality. While using these sound fertilizers you should keep in mind some important notions like following all the instructions that are labeled on the covers. If in any case you don’t follow these instructions, your garden space might suffer from ineffective treatment. Moreover these fertilizers should be mixed accurately before applying. Apart from this, you can get some excellent ideas on maintaining a great quality lawn, on different websites. So follow these guidelines as these will surely help you to obtain a great quality lawn.

A closer look at kayaking and even canoeing will reveal the most cultures in ancient civilization had something to do with kayaking and canoeing. Research proves that paddling was done almost about 8,000 years back. There’s even belief that this owes its inception to the creation of the human race.

In the olden days, canoes were dug out of the trunk of trees. As to kayaks, they were made from an assortment of whale bones or wood combined with animal skin. In most cases, fats from animals were used to keep water off the paddles.

Most of the early users of these engaged themselves only in hunting and fishing activities. In some cases, they were used for traditional and cultural activities such as farming or performing funerals rites.

How Was Leisure Incorporated Into Kayaking?

As far back as the end of the first half of the 19th Century, these traditional uses of kayaks and canoe began making way for leisure activities. Canoes were designed not only for farming or transportation, but were made for purposes of leisure. This later gave birth to canoe festivals.

It was on one of such occasions that a kayak was designed and this was done by John MacGregor. He used this to sail the waters of the Middle East and Europe and this was done with two-edged paddles. He named this the ‘Rob Roy’. This later aroused a global awareness and his exploits turned out to be global news. This invention of his led others to follow suit. In so doing, they made kayaking common and popular.

What about the Folding Kayak?

During the begin of the 20th century, the folding kayak came to be popular. Made of wood and perfected with rubber, they were very comfortable to be used. People began considering this type of kayaks before any other. They were mostly designed in Austria and Germany. In 1905, they were manufactured in great numbers. This was especially prior to the purchase of a particular design from a student by a business.

A tiny later and precisely during the 1930s, they were commonly used for leisure and mostly in fast-moving waters. It is even known that these were employed during World War II to undertake on underground sea assignments. From then, modernity crept in and today, the folding kayak has been altered with lots of materials with ease of use and comfort making them first choices.

What Contributed To The Designing Of Modern Kayaks?

An additional aspect that encouraged the designing of modern kayaks was the British Arctic Air Route mission to Greenland in the 1930s. The Inuit people of Greenland were great kayakers. Their devices were closely surveyed by these British explorers. A lot of this was done thanks to Henry George, a part of the mission. This led to the manufacture of smaller models of kayaks which were very convenient to be used in choppy waters.

Although kayaking for leisure came to be just the same time as it did in Europe, there were some differences in what was made. What was obtained in the North followed the patterns or models of what was customary in Alaska and most of the Northwest regions. From then onwards and specifically in 1972, modern materials such as aluminum and wood were used to produce kayaks.

Remodeling and Modernization to Meet Particular Demands

In 1972, multiple kayaks were produced by three corporations. It was at this same time that the Slalom kayaking was officially accepted as an Olympic item. From this period, the making of kayaks has been modernized and remodeled to meet particular demands. Each kayaker is able today to decide on what to use that’ll call for ease of use and safety. Keep in mind that no matter your intended purpose for kayaking, there is an assortment of equipments and guidelines at your disposal, all meant to give you safety and comfort.

The extraordinary quality of Kawai pianos stems from the careful dedication of the company to maintaining the impressive sound. It`s a sound that has been described as a blanket of velvet…something that one really must experience personally in order to comprehend.

In the Beginning

Koichi Kawai started the Kawai Musical Instrument Research Laboratory with several other men back in 1927. As a pre-teen, Kawai had been recruited by Torakusu Yamaha as apprentice in his piano workshop. The young man worked hard and was a key factor in the production of many award-winning pianos by Nippon Gakki Co., founded by Yamaha.

Kawai decided to work on his own projects years later, after Yamaha had passed on and the company was in trouble due to a difficult economy. He took 7 co-workers with him and the eight of them formed the new lab.

Kawai`s goal was to create a better piano and his first success was the creation of the very first piano action in Japan. This granted him to build cheaper pianos, now that it was no longer necessary to import the actions. Within a year, the lab began to turn out upright pianos and then a grand piano.

A Name Change and Expansion

In 1929, just two years after the lab had been founded, the name was changed to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co. and the business underwent several changes over the following years, including becoming a partnership venture and yet another name change, to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Ltd.

1930 saw the expansion of the company as they began to produce reed organs. But change was on the horizon.

Pausing for War

Like many production factories during World War II, Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. left off making pianos during the war to produce much needed aircraft parts for the war effort.

Though the war officially ended in 1945, the Japanese struggled to get back on their feet after devastating losses and it wasn`t until three years later that Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. was able to return to the production of musical instruments. It didn`t take long for the business to recover and soon they had over 500 employees and were producing 1,500 pianos per year.

Kawai developed and built his first concert piano, which won the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor. Just two years later, Koichi Kawai passed away and his son, Shigeru, took over the company, which was now incorporated. He turned the family business into something more modern by updating certain techniques and combining the original handcrafted quality with faster, more modern production.

A Whole New World

The younger Kawai was as much an entrepreneur as his dad and pushed hard to grow the company. Once the supply outgrew the demand, he came up with a novel idea to promote sales and started the Kawai Academy of Music to train instructors who were then dispatched to instruct in Kawai Music Schools across the country. Door to door sales helped boost the demand for their pianos, as well.

He also set up the Kawai Piano Technical Center to turn out trained piano technicians to provide maintenance of bought instruments. Within a few more years, the company even had its own retail stores that sold pianos and also provided tuning and repair services. Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. moved into America in 1969 and was soon established there, as well.

1989 saw a third generation take control of the company and Kawai Pianos are still some of the most popular musical instruments in the world. The company continues to produce top quality products and expand into new areas of development on a continual basis.
